What about he sucks in a character next to him and swallows? or maybe similar to simon's, he walks to the left and an enemy appears, and he sucks it in.

The Warp Star works and it's iconic. (And would otherwise be unused.) That and doors are the way Kirby tends to arrive in new levels. Seeing Kirby crash in on 1-1 would be pretty rockin'.

I could see Kirby abilities being really easy to implement with the new power-up upgrades coming in 2.0 A random power-up will come out of a block looking like the enemy that it's based off of (this works much better than trying to give him abilities based off of Mario enemies). IMO, Kirby's Adventure would be the best game to get ability ideas from. Beam, Burning, Cutter, Freeze, Hammer, Laser, Stone, and UFO are my personal favorites (Star Rod is nice too). Instead of being able to stash power-ups like other characters seem to be able to do, Kirby could only be allowed one power-up at a time, making it more true to Kirby games. Other ideas that may or may not have already been mentioned: - He could suck up bricks like he can Star Blocks. - His mushrooms could look like Pep Brews. - His stars could look like Invincibility Candy. - He could inhale and spit/swallow unarmored enemies. - Down + Jump would do a Mega Man style slide. - He could inhale air by pushing up and spit out a puff cloud. - Instead of infinite flight, he could have 5 mid-air jumps like in Smash Bros (or less depending on balance). - While underwater (iirc) he swims similar to the Mario 3 Frog Suit, and can spit at enemies one square away in any direction. That's just about everything I can think of.
True, but it could simply be an ability that fires a laser straight ahead. It doesn't really need to be able to bounce off of anything, it's just as awesome regardless.

Well, it certainly wouldn't be as good without slopes, but it would at least be some use on the overworld levels -- especially the big flat ones. Moreso if the ability to jump is included (I think it wasn't in Kirby's Adventure, but oh well).
Yeah, Adventure was the main one I played, and I don't think the wheel could jump in that one. As such, I kinda just imagined hitting a pipe every 5 seconds, and the thought of that didn't really seem too appealing. lol
I think unique abilities would fit, although for balance, there should be a "usage meter", and you can't keep it into the next level. General: Above Water Atck: Swallow blocks/enemies. Spcl: Start running. General: Underwater Atck: Spit water 1 block. Spcl: Speed boost. Lakitu: Cloud (flying) Atck: Drop down cloud puff. Spcl: Large puff of cloud that instantly removes power. Red Koopa: Shell Atck: Turn into a shell and move forward. Spcl: Speed boost when in shell form. Bullet Bill: Missile Atck: Turn into a missile and move forward. Spcl: Speed boost when in missile form. Hammer Bro: Hammer Throw Atck: Throw small hammer. Spcl: Throw big hammer that instantly removes power.
I take it you're a fan of the newer Kirby games aren't you? I could never get into them after adventure. I played them, but adventure was just so perfect that I couldn't stand the others.
Here is my own suggestion. Basic: Kirby can inhale bricks and enemies (not Spike Top or Bowser) and shoot/swallow them. Can do the same with Hammers and Bowser Fireballs (not Podoboo). When swimming, use Attack to blow and arrows to move. Mushroom: Kirby can copy abilities from enemies by swallowing them. Green Koopa/Paratroopa: Wheel Red Koopa/Paratroopa: Fireball Buzzy Beetle: Stone Spiny: Needle Bullet Bill: Cutter Hammer Bros. Hammer Everything else: Nothing Fire Flower Kirby can shoot laser beams, which are more powerful than Star Projectiles. EDIT Lakitu gives hi-jump In the 2.0 power system, Mushroom is same as before, and Laser, Beam, Stone, etc. can come out of a block after a mushroom.
