Hey, what about map for SMBC?
Well the classic Mario Bros didn't have a map system, but actually that would be a really cool idea for a cheat. Something like "beat a level without getting hit" and you unlock the ability to see the map for any level? Something along those lines.
You mean a level map or a world map, just like SMB Deluxe?
I took it as a level map, but he might have meant a world map indeed.
That seems a lot less like SMB, to be honest, but I suppose it wouldn't be too bad.
A world map where one can replay a previous level would be a goid idea, especially if Jason is added as a part of SOPHIA.
All you have to do is move to the right, why would you need or want a level map?
I thought we were talking about the Overworld Map like in SMB3 and SMBDX, right?
What's the point of a map system for this game?
Yes, I mean it.
It would be a nice extra. It can be an option one turns off and on. When on, you can replay already defeated levels.
It could be an extra feature of the level select cheat.
That wouldn't fit in.
I think that if the maps from SMBDX are put in, they should be put on the character select screen (in the corner or something). It's already a new screen for SMBC that appears every level (unless you're playing single character, but I'd prefer the game remain uninterrupted then), so putting it there wouldn't change the flow of the gameplay at all. I imagine it would just show the current world, with the current level (that is, the one you'll enter once you select your character) flashing like in SMBDX.
Also, aliceandsven, if you're suggesting using the maps as an interface for level select (that is, you choose from the maps rather than a list), then I agree. In that case we could just stack all 8 maps vertically, use Up and Down to move between worlds, and use Left and Right to move between levels.
I'm down with using the SMBDX maps in some fashion.
Like it's SO hard to find where you're going in a Mario game.
It's not really important, I suppose. It'd just be a nice visual touch. And a lot of people like SMBDX, so it would be nice for them.
I actually just found out what SMBDX was.. So I took a look at the map, and yeah it's a nice touch. But that's really all it is.
