Request Nova: From Power Blade and Power Blade 2

Well, I guess I'll get in on this whole character request deal. Nova is the playable character from the NES games Power Blade and Power Blade 2. The first game was arguably better, but the second had more advanced gameplay, so I'll post a description of his gameplay in both and let you discuss which would be better for SMBC (if either would work at all).
    • Boomerang: Nova's primary weapon is his boomerang, which he can throw in eight directions (seven on the ground). It can pierce through multiple enemies (both going and coming), but can't go through walls. It has various upgrades available, as mentioned below.
    • The Power Meter: The range of Nova's boomerang is dictated by the current level of his Power Meter. It automatically regenerates (fairly quickly) between shots. What this amounts to is that if you can either have slow long-range shots, or rapid short-range shots.
    • The Power Blade: This is the biggest difference between PB1 and PB2. In PB1, Nova could collect a suit of powered armor called the Power Blade. It replaced his boomerang attack with an energy wave (also called the Power Blade), which was larger than the boomerang, more powerful, and could go through walls, but did not come back. (In PB1, it also gave him more HP, but that's not relevant in SMBC.) In PB2, Nova acquired four different armors over the course of the game, which he could switch between freely (as well as his unarmored state). Each gave him the Power Blade attack, plus one unique bonus:
    * Newt Suit: Allowed him to climb on walls and ceilings. Could climb around corners both concave and convex, similar to Sophia with both upgrades.
    * Wet Suit: Allowed him to swim freely and move at full speed in water. Normally he was slowed down greatly by water and could only jump, not swim.
    * Rocket Suit: Hold Jump in midair and use the D-pad to fly freely. Release Jump to descend slowly.
    * Patriot Suit: Gives him two orbiting shields that automatically home in on and absorb enemy projectiles.

All suits consume Energy as long as they are equipped.
    • Slide: Power Blade 2 only. Similar to Mega Man's.
So, here's what his items would be:
    • Blue Boomerang: Upgrades Nova's white boomerangs to the more powerful blue boomerangs. Also affects the power of the Power Blade. (Would work as a Mushroom bonus. In PB2, he starts with blue boomerangs.)
    • Red Boomerang: Upgrades his blue boomerangs to the more powerful red boomerangs. Also affects the power of the Power Blade. Must have Blue Boomerang first.
    • Double Boomerangs: Allows there to be two boomerangs on-screen at once. (Would work as a Mushroom bonus.)
    • Triple Boomerangs: Allows there to be three boomerangs on-screen at once. Must have Double Boomerangs first.
    • Star: Increases the length of the Power Meter. The Power Meter starts at half its maximum length, and it takes three Stars to max it out. (Would work as a Mushroom bonus.)
    • Power Blade: Replaces Nova's boomerang with the Power Blade. PB1 only.
    • Newt Suit: Replaces his boomerang with the Power Blade and lets him climb, but consumes Energy while it's equipped. PB2 only.
    • Wet Suit: Replaces his boomerang with the Power Blade and lets him swim, but consumes Energy while it's equipped. PB2 only.
    • Rocket Suit: Replaces his boomerang with the Power Blade and lets him fly, but consumes Energy while it's equipped. PB2 only.
    • Patriot Suit: Replaces his boomerang with the Power Blade and gives him a shield, but consumes Energy while it's equipped. PB2 only.
    • Battery: Refills the Energy meter. PB2 only.
    Controls:
    • Jump: Jump/fly with Rocket Suit.
    • Attack: Throw boomerang/shoot Power Blade. Use arrows to aim.
    • Down + Jump: Slide (PB2 only).
    • Special/Select: Somehow switch between his suits and unarmored form (PB2 only). Another character who would benefit from Cycle Left/Right buttons.
Obviously we could mix and match things from PB 1 & 2, though I think it would be silly to have the Power Blade and the four specialty suits.
    So, what do you think?

I love this game, Nova is little known, but should be in the SMBC
